Assembly & Kitting Systems

WE DESIGN AND INTEGRATE ROBOTIC ASSEMBLY KITTING SYSTEMS THAT AUTOMATE ASSEMBLY PROCESSES AND KIT BUILDING, INCREASING THROUGHPUT, REDUCING ERRORS, AND IMPROVING OVERALL PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY.

components

Our robotic assembly kitting systems are built using industrial-grade components designed to perform reliably in demanding production environments. Each system is engineered as a complete solution, integrating robotics, material handling, and intelligent controls into a cohesive workflow. Our commitment to quality ensures that these robotic assembly kitting systems will meet your manufacturing needs.

At the core of the system are industrial robotic arms, typically 6-axis or SCARA robots selected based on payload, reach, and cycle time requirements. These robots are paired with custom-designed end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), which is tailored to handle specific parts, whether delicate components, irregular shapes, or multi-part picks. Our robotic assembly kitting systems ensure efficiency and precision in handling diverse components.

Material flow is managed through infeed and outfeed conveyor systems that ensure consistent product delivery and removal. Depending on the application, parts may be supplied via vibratory bowl feeders, flexible feeding systems, trays, or bulk input systems designed to accommodate varying levels of part organization.

Kitting stations are designed with precision fixtures and trays to ensure consistent placement and proper organization of components. These stations can be configured for single or multi-step assembly processes, depending on the complexity of the kit.

Control systems, including PLCs and HMIs, provide centralized operation and monitoring. Operators can easily adjust recipes, monitor performance, and respond to system alerts. Integrated safety systems—including guarding, light curtains, and interlocks—ensure compliance with safety standards while maintaining efficient operation.

Every system is customized to match the specific application, allowing for flexibility in layout, scalability for future growth, and seamless integration into existing production lines. Our commitment to quality makes these robotic assembly kitting systems a reliable choice for modern manufacturing needs.

VISION SYSTEMS

Vision systems are a key enabling technology in modern robotic assembly kitting systems, allowing for flexibility, adaptability, and high levels of accuracy. By incorporating advanced 2D and 3D vision technologies, systems can respond dynamically to real-world variability in parts and presentation.
Vision-guided robotics allows the system to identify part location, orientation, and condition in real time. This is particularly valuable in applications where parts arrive randomly oriented or in bulk, eliminating the need for precise manual staging or fixturing.
In addition to guiding robotic picking, vision systems are used for inspection and verification throughout the assembly and kitting process. They can confirm the presence of all required components, ensure proper placement within a kit, and detect defects such as damage, incorrect parts, or misalignment.

Advanced systems may incorporate multiple cameras positioned at key points within the process, creating a layered inspection approach that improves reliability and reduces the likelihood of errors reaching downstream operations.

The integration of vision technology reduces manual intervention, increases system flexibility, and allows for quick changeovers between product types. This is especially important for operations handling multiple SKUs or frequently changing product configurations.

Accuracy & Performance

Precision and repeatability are essential in assembly and kitting applications, where even small errors can lead to incomplete kits, product defects, or downstream disruptions. Our systems are designed to deliver consistent, measurable performance under real production conditions.

Typical placement accuracy ranges from ±0.01 mm to ±0.05 mm, depending on the application, tooling, and vision integration. Robotic repeatability ensures that this level of precision is maintained across continuous cycles, even in high-volume environments.

Throughput is scalable and determined by system configuration, part complexity, and process requirements. Systems can be designed for moderate production rates or optimized for high-speed operation with multiple robots working in parallel.

Integrated quality control features significantly reduce the risk of errors. Vision verification, sensor feedback, and programmed logic checks ensure that each kit meets defined specifications before it moves downstream. This results in fewer defects, less rework, and improved overall product quality.

Performance is validated during system commissioning and tested against actual production scenarios to ensure reliability over time. The goal is not just speed, but consistent, dependable output that supports long-term operational efficiency.

Robotic assembly and kitting systems are used across a wide range of industries where precision, consistency, and efficiency are critical. These systems are particularly valuable in operations that require handling multiple components, maintaining strict quality standards, or scaling production without increasing labor dependency.

  • Consumer packaged goods (CPG), systems are used to assemble promotional kits, multi-pack products, and retail-ready packaging. Food and agricultural operations benefit from automated kitting for packaged goods, where consistency and speed are essential.
  • Medical and pharmaceutical environments, assembly and kitting systems support the preparation of kits that must meet strict regulatory and quality requirements. Accuracy and traceability are especially important in these applications.
  • Electronics and light manufacturing industries use robotic assembly systems for precise component placement and subassembly processes. Industrial manufacturing operations rely on these systems for organizing parts, assembling components, and preparing kits for downstream use or shipment.

Each system is tailored to the specific needs of the industry, including compliance requirements, product handling considerations, and production goals. Read more about some of our recent projects we are proud to share below!
